Frequently-asked questions

What happens at the initial appointment?

Firstly, a case history is taken.  This involves questions about the symptoms you have, your general health and any medications you may take as well as any accidents or illnesses that you may have had in your life.  This is followed by a physical assessment to establish the nature of your problem and to allow a diagnosis.

The diagnosis is then discussed with you to consider treatment options and enable you to ask any questions that you may have.

After initial treatment, we will discuss with you any recommendation for follow up appointments and you will be given advice on ways in which you can help speed up your recovery.  This may include stretches, exercises etc.

No treatment is ever given without your consent.

How many treatments will I need?

Everybody is different and many factors affect this such as:-

  • The cause of the pain
  • Your age, occupation, general fitness and activity levels
  • How long you have had the problem
  • Whether you have had the problem before
  • If you have any underlying health issues that slow down healing e.g diabetes, cardiovascular or respiritory conditions, stress etc

Straightforward issues may be resolved in 1 or 2 sessions, however on average 3 to 4 sessions may produce better results, more complex cases may require longer treatment

May I bring somebody with me?

You are more than welcome to bring somebody along with you if this makes you feel more comfortable. Please be aware that my practice has a full time office manager or receptionist on the premises from 8.30am to 5.30pm.
